The coaster's nickname, the "Swamp Fox," pays homage to Francis Marion, a Revolutionary War hero known for his outstanding leadership and guerrilla warfare tactics in the swamps of South Carolina. Born in 1732, Marion played a crucial role in the American Revolution, earning his nickname from the British forces who struggled to capture him in the challenging and unfamiliar terrain.
